Copra surges on heavy demand; ginger, pepper gain

Copra prices surged at the spices market here today due to heavy demand from stockists and retailers amidst higher millers offtake.
Elsewhere, black pepper and ginger gained on robust demand from exporters and upcountry advices.
Copra Rajapur shot up by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 14,500 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 14,000.
Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode climbed by Rs 400 per quintal each to Rs 11,000 and Rs 10,900 as against Rs 10,600 and Rs 10,500, respectively.
Copra edible also moved up by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 12,200 from Rs 12,000.
Black pepper advanced by Rs 25/30 per kg to Rs 700/740 from previous level of Rs 675/710.
Ginger bleached and unbleached went up by Rs 25 per kg each to Rs 325 and Rs 340 as compared to Rs 300 and Rs 315, respectively.
