Deputy chief minister G Parameshwara today asked police to tighten vigil in view of increasing incidents of sexualharassment of women by drivers of mobile application based cabaggregators.
In two recent cases, women, who availed cab services to KempegowdaInternational Airport at night, were allegedly sexually harassed.
Parameshwara wanted to know the initiatives taken by the policedepartment to check unruly behaviour of drivers of cabaggregators.
Taking note of these incidents, Parameshwara said women's safety in cabs, especially during night, was paramount and asked them to deploy more police force to respond immediately to such attacks.
At a meeting with the DGP, Bengaluru police commissioner and senior police officers dealing with traffic, Parameshwara directed the officials topublicise all measures initiated by the government to curbsexual assault and harassment of women.
He said there was sufficient funds available under the Nirbhaya scheme, which should be utilised generously.

He advised the police department to procure 5,000 CCTV cameras, 1,000 two-wheelers, police vans and increase the number of plainclothes men on security duty.
He warned police personnel of stringent action in the event of such cab-related incidents recurring, an official release said.
