Cops' families plead for reconsidering pre-poll transfers
Press Trust of India Coimbatore A group of family members of some police personnel transferred recently as part of enmasse reshuffle ahead of coming Assembly elections today met a top police official and pleaded for reconsidering the orders, saying such sudden shifting would pose difficulties to them.
Police said that on the directive of the Election Commission ordering transfer of those serving at one location for the last three years, about 120 police personnel in Pollachi sub-division were issued transfer orders.
Around 50 family members, including wives, mothers and children of these personnel submitted a memorandum to West Zone Inspector General of Police K Shankar here highlighting "difficulties" they would face on account of the transfers, police said.
The 'sudden' shift would have serious impact on their lives, including the education of children and also health of old aged persons, they said and appealed to the senior official to reconsider the transfers.
