Anjuman-e-Haideri, which is the management committee of Karbala and Dargah-e-Shahe Mardan situated in Jor Bagh, urged Home Minister Rajnath Singh to instruct the Delhi Police to provide proper security arrangements for the procession.
"Delhi Police is creating hindrances in organising Juloo-e-Amari tonight, which marks the day of Imam Hussain, grandson of the Prophet leaving Madina for Karbala," said Zahrul Hasan, Anjuman-e-Haideri manager.
Hasan claimed that the procession has been undertaken every year since decades and its route has been identical.
However, police said that they had asked them not to use the Nursery Gate of the Karbala land for the procession due to the prevailing law and order issues, and the situation raised after the various litigations and orders passed by the Delhi High Court in this connection.
The HC in an order had restrained Anjuman-e-Haideri from holding protests at the Karbala near Jor Bagh in south Delhi on March 31. The site is under legal dispute.
