Cops penalised for not acting against drug trafficking

A Station House Officer (SHO) was suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against a circle officer today following the arrest of two youths from their area recently under charges of drug trafficking.
Rajpur police station SHO Amarjeet Singh was suspended and a departmental probe ordered against Mussoorie circle officer Jaya Baluni after two youths, found in possession of charas, were arrested from Rajpur area of the city.

The move follows Uttarakhand DGP B S Siddhu's directive to the police department to initiate stern action against drug trafficking.
If a case of drug trafficking by a particular gang comes to the surface after October 22, the SHO of the police station concerned would be immediately suspended and a departmental inquiry inititated against the circle officer concerned, the DGP had warned at a meeting with officials on October 19.
