Alert has been sounded, specially in areas on the Indo-Nepal border, in Uttar Pradesh to thwart any effort of anti-national elements to infiltrate into the country ahead of the Independence Day, police said today.
"Following intelligence inputs, district authorities have been asked to maintain utmost alert," IGP (Law and Order) R K Vishkarma said.
Special vigil will also be maintained in and around vital installations like Mathura oil refinery, Narora Nuclear plant and shrines of the state to ensure that no one is allowed to disturb peace and order, he said.
Commandos would be deployed wherever required and security arrangements would be stepped up across the state, he said.
Replying to a query, Vishkarma said areas along the Indo- Nepal are vulnerable and it had often been found that the areas were being used by anti-social elements.
