The Patiala police has recovered a drug testing machine from Anil Chawan alias Ravi, a suspected associate of the arrested wrestler-turned-drug lord Jagdish Singh alias Bhola.
Stating this here today, Patiala SSP H S Mann said the machine was being used to check the purity of drug samples before these were delivered to the clients.
Chawan had taken a flat on rent at Krishna Nagar in Madhya Pradesh where he had installed this machine to check purity of drugs like Pseudoephedrine and Ephedrine, he said.
Mann said Chawan along with his associates allegedly used to manufacture drugs in a factory at Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and it was earlier raided by DRI sleuths from Mumbai.
The Patiala police had arrested Chawan from Goa on January 29, Mann said.
Punjab Police had arrested Bhola, the alleged mastermind behind an international drug smuggling racket, near Sonepat in November last year.
Bhola, a dismissed Punjab Police DSP, was one of the most wanted fugitives operating the multi-crore drug trafficking racket and had been on the run since March 3, 2013 when his Mohali house was raided.
Several of his associates and other accused had also been nabbed following his arrest.
