Cops rescue abducted Delhi child from Haridwar, 2 held

A three-year-old child allegedly abducted from Mayur Vihar area in Delhi after the murder of his mother was rescued in Haridwar by a joint team of Delhi and Uttarakhand police.
Two of the child's abductors were also held after an encounter last evening, police sources said here today.
On a tip-off that the child's kidnappers could be hiding in Haridwar, a Delhi police team contacted police officials in the holy city and arrested them after an encounter from under Chandi bridge, they said.
The abductors opened fire during the encounter leaving a Delhi police sub-inspector and a constable of Haridwar SOG injured, they said.
The arrested duo has been identified as Digvijay and Sachin Kumar who are from Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh. They have been taken to Delhi by the team of police personnel from there along with the child.
A 29-year-old woman was strangulated and her son abducted by two persons in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar on August 24.
According to police, two men barged into the victim's house, which is at the second floor.
They first overpowered domestic help Veena and then strangulated Maahi alias Mohi with a plastic wire. The duo then abducted her son and robbed off jewelry before fleeing the spot.
