A Dalit man has allegedly committed suicide after police reportedly failed to act on a complaint of his 17-year-old daughter's molestation.
According to police sources, locals this morning found the body of Sish Pal (35) hanging from a tree near his house at Didauli village of the district.
The sources said Sish Pal had filed a complaint with the police, alleging that five youths -- Ashif, Tehdip, Nasim, Gaffar and Asim -- of a neighbouring village had molested his daughter last week.
But police did not act on the complaint due to their busy schedule for elections duty.
Sish Pal went to the police station again after the polling in the area on April 17, and demanded action against the accused. He also alleged that some local leaders of the ruling party had been threatening him for filing a police complaint.
A villager said Sish Pal was aggrieved after the police failed to take action against the accused and politicians. This might have prompted him to commit suicide.
