Cops told to tighten security of educational institutions

In the wake of terror attack on an army-run school in Peshawar, the Uttarakhand Police have directed all SPs to have consultations with schools and other educational institutions in their respective areas and tighten security arrangements there.
All SPs have been asked to hold discussions with schools and other educational institutions in their jurisdictions and have an assessment of the security, according to an official release.
All educational institutions have been told to increase the height of their boundary walls, strengthen them and fix barbed wires on them, the release stated.
It has been instructed that CCTV cameras should be installed at the entry and exit gates. It has also been instructed that CCTV cameras should be installed on the boundary walls for surveillance of areas outside the gates, it said.
It has been directed that a guard room should be constructed at the entry gates of schools and other educational institutions and trained guard should be deployed there for 24 hours.
A register should be kept at the entry gate to maintain a record of all visitors.

If any suspicious activity is noticed near the school, police should be immediately informed.
The SPs have also been told to appoint a nodal officer in each district and provide his mobile number to all educational institutions, it said.
