Coracle: TN CM orders action against those responsible

Condoling the coracle mishap in Hogenakkal in which six members of a family were drowned, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today ordered police and district administration to take legal action against those responsible for the tragedy.
She also announced a solatium of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of the victims from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
"I have ordered the District Administration and Police to take legal action against those responsible," she said in a statement here.
A family of nine from Chennai drowned after the coracle, in which they were travelling, capsized in Hogenakkal yesterday.
Out of nine, three persons, including a seven year old boy, managed to reach the banks. Two bodies were taken out yesterday by Fire and Rescue personnel and two other bodies were retrieved today.
"I have ordered the authorities to expedite the process of tracing the (remaining) bodies of two (an adult and a child) and bring them to Chennai," she said adding, "I convey my condolences to the bereaved family.
