Coronavirus: Parliamentary panel suggests sanitisation of public transport networks in Delhi

A parliamentary panel on Tuesday suggested sanitisation of public transport networks, including the Metro, in the national capital in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

Top officials of the ministries of health and housing and urban affairs made presentations before the parliamentary standing committee on urban development on tackling the coronavirus.

The panel, headed by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, also suggested that private hospitals and laboratories should also be allowed to conduct tests for detection of coronavirus.

At a meeting of the committee, its members also suggest that public transport should also be sanitised, including the Delhi Metro.

India on Tuesday reported its third coronavirus fatality with a 63-year-old dying in Mumbai, Health Ministry officials said as the number of positive cases rose sharply to 137 and more parts of the country shut down to stem the spread of the infection.
