Representatives from various corporate houses presented their contributions to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, even as the total sum received so far touched Rs 161.30 crore, an official release said.
Those who submitted their contribution included Sundaram Finance Chairman S Viji and Managing Director T T Srinivasaraghavan (Rs 3.35 crore), Neyveli Lignite Corporation CMD S K Acharya (Rs 2.50 crore), TVS Logistics Managing Director R Dinesh and Director of Srichakra Tyres, P Vijayaraghavan (Rs 2.50 crore each) and United India Insurance CMD Milind A Kharat, who gave Rs two crore, it said.
Meanwhile, leading American chocolate maker Hershey has joined a Mumbai-based non-profit body United Way of Mumbai, to provide aid of Rs 1 crore in aid to the Chennai flood victims. The company will also supply 4 lakh packs of Sofit brand of soya milk to Chennai residents, Hershey said in a statement.
Hershey India managing director Praveen Jakate said, in addition, we will be allocating USD 25,000 from the corporate level to United Way for their charity work.
United Way of Mumbai is a part of the 128-year-old United Way movement spanning 41 countries.
