Against the backdrop of two police constables arrested for robbing a person of new currency notes, Director General of Police Muktesh Chander today warned that corrupt police personnel would not be spared.
"There will be stern action against police personnel found to be involved in corrupt practices. I would not shield anyone found involved in criminal activities," Chander said addressing Goa Police Raising Day today in Panaji.
The guilty should be punished to cleanse the force, the DGP said, adding, the law and order situation in the state has improved remarkably due to various security measures initiated by Goa Police.
He hailed the force for its performance during the BRICS Summit and other important events that have happened in the state.
"Despite having limited resources, Goa Police have excelled in their duties," he said.
Two police constables attached to Calangute police station were arrested last week along with a RTI activist whena Karnataka based businessman claimed that they had robbed him of his new currency in lakhs.
Similarly, another constable was arrested for fleeing away with new currency which a man from Maharashtra had brought to exchange as a part of the deal.
