"There is a unanimous view that corruption is a major issue in India which has affected every citizen in one way or the other. It has prevented the benefits of socio-economic development from reaching the poor and reinforced inequities," Rao said in a message which was read out to government officials on the first day of the Vigilance Awareness Week.
The Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed in the state from October 27 to November 1.
The message was also read out to the staff and officers of Raj Bhavan.
Rao also gave a pledge of integrity and transparency to the staff and officers of Raj Bhavan, police personnel and PWD officials posted there.
