Marketmen said expanding of positions by speculators driven by spurt in demand at the spot markets, mainly influenced cottonseed oil prices in futures trade here.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, cottonseed oilcake for delivery in December surged by Rs 33 or 1.70 per cent to Rs 1,970 per quintal, in an open interest of 66,520 lots.
Also, delivery in far-month contract January next year hardened by Rs 31 or 1.61 per cent to Rs 1,962 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 46,710 lots.
