Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Tripura police and BSF personnel yesterday intercepted an Agartala-bound truck from Guwahati and recovered 19,000 bottles of Phensedyl and 9900 bottles of Recodex, worth Rs 21.73 lakh.
The bottles of the cough syrups were placed under gunny bags, filled with rice, BSF DIG B S Rawat said.
The consignment was loaded at Beltala market in Guwahati on September 30 last.
The DIG said the BSF also seized huge amount of Phensedyl from North Tripura district from another truck last month.
These cough syrups are smuggled to neighbouring Bangladesh for intoxication where liquor is banned.
