The Delhi-based girl, who started her career with Telugu and Tamil films, will be seen opposite actors Rishi Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Siddharth, and Divyendu Sharma in the movie, which is a remake of 1981 Farooq Shaikh-Deepti Naval classic of the same name.
"I am debuting under David Dhawan, I couldn't have got luckier than this. My struggle will now begin when it comes to signing the second movie because my launch down South was very good and with Bollywood also I am getting the best. I don't want to settle for anything," Taapsee told PTI.
"I never wanted to act. I was happy doing my engineering and was about to start off with my job. But my mother has always been keen about movies and asked me to try my hands on modelling, which I did for fun.
"Later I got some really good offers from South and I thought of giving it a shot. When I was well received by the audience there I did not want to stop," she said.
Taapsee says her character in the movie is nothing like that of Deepti Naval's and she hopes people do not compare the two.
