The husband of a municipal councillor here has been booked for allegedly misbehaving with a 21-year-old married woman, robbing her of her cash and a tablet device and thrashing her tutor in southwest Delhi's Dwarka, police said today.
The accused, identified as Surendra Bhardwaj, husband of Raj Nagar ward councillor Poonam Bhardwaj, is absconding after the incident that was reported on Tuesday evening, they said.
Bhardwaj and his associates have been booked under Sections 354A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures), 392 (robbery), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC, said DCP (Southwest), RA Sanjeev.
A police team has taken up the search for Bhardwaj in Delhi and neighbouring areas, Sanjeev added.
In her complaint to police, the woman said she had met Bhardwaj around four months ago while trying to obtain a caste certificate.
Bhardwaj had allegedly told her to come to his residence to collect the certificate, insisting that she should visit alone. But, to Bhardwaj's apparent annoyance, she informed her relatives of the demand made by him, police said.

At around 6.15 PM on Tuesday, while the woman was at a coaching centre in Dwarka Sector-7, Bhardwaj and his men barged in and allegedly molested her and even tried to forcibly take her away.
When her tutor tried to intervene, Bhardwaj and his men also allegedly thrashed him before leaving with the woman's tablet device and cash of Rs 4,000 belonging to her, she told police.
She also alleged that Bhardwaj threatened her and the tutor with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anybody. Police added that he had fled before a police team could reach his residence following the complaint.
