Highlighting the menace of black money and corruption, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday said the international community must come together to curb this and share information on economic offenders.

"The countries should come together to sign treaties (to curb this menace).. this has to be taken forward," he said.

He was speaking after unveiling the logo of 90th year celebrations of the local chapter of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry here tonight.

Naidu also said the biggest challenge before the world was climate change.

It was not just the responsibility of the government or elected bodies, but society must protect nature, he said.

Stressing the need for reforms, Naidu said even after 70 years of independence, India still has 20 per cent poverty, 22 per cent illiteracy and gender discrimination and untouchability in certain areas.

He said issues of black money, corruption and tax evasion would need to be seriously looked into and the government was trying to bring reforms and take action against offenders.

People should support this to strengthen the economy, Naidu added.
