R Suresh and Jaysree, who live in Gollaprollu mandal of the district, got married four-days back and were returning home last night when three youths in an inebriated state chased them on a motorcycle and attacked them with empty beer bottles, an official at Pithapuram police said.
Jayasree received injuries on head, neck, while the miscreants beat up Suresh and also robbed gold ornaments and other valuables from them, they said.
The passers-by who saw the couple laying on the road took them to Pithapuram government hospital and informed the police.
Pithapuram police have registered a case and further probe was on.
