The Goa Police today arrested a Mumbai-based couple for allegedly duping the manager of actress Meghna Naidu's guest house of over Rs 1 lakh, an official said.
Princeraj Chaviraj (32) and his wife Sharmila Dalal (31) were arrested from a hotel in Majorda in South Goa this morning.
"The couple was on the run from the time they had burgled the guest house in Candolim in North Goa," Calangute station police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.
In her social media post, Naidu had claimed the duo duped the caretaker and ran away with her belongings, including clothes. She had also released a picture of the couple.
A complaint was lodged against Chaviraj and Dalal by the caretaker, identified as Suhasini Raut, on February 26, said Dalvi.
According to the complainant, Chaviraj and Dalal took Rs 60,000 from her under the pretext of providing jobs to her children during their stay at the facility. They allegedly took money from Raut on different occasions under various pretexts, said Dalvi.
