Couple held for throwing acid to woman, daughter

A couple was arrested on the charge of throwing muriatic acid to a woman and and her daughter inside the closed Fort Gloster cable factory in Baura area of Howrah district, police said today.
Sunil Singh and his wife Gita Singh were arrested following complaints lodged by the victims Nirmala Singh and her daughter Pallabi.
According to the complaint, the couple threw acid at the mother and daughter at Sipahi Colony inside the closed Fort Gloster factory while the they were returning home from market last night.
Pallabi was discharged from hospital last night itself while her mother was released from another hospital today.

The illegal electricity connection at the quarter of the couple had been snapped by the power supply company last month and they had suspected that Brizkishore Singh, husband of Nirmala, was behind the move, police said about the possible reason behind the acid attack.
Sunil and Gita were remanded to 14 days' judicial custody after they were produced before a court.
