Mohan (45) was yesterday thrashed by some persons after an argument over using a tap in kotwali Binor area, following which he went to the police in the evening to register his complaint, police said.
He was on his way home with his wife Deepa when accused Surendra and his accomplices stopped them and slit his throat while seriously injuring his wife.
He died on the spot while Deepa succumbed to her injuries in a Meerut hospital, police said.
