Couple run over by police jeep

A couple was run over and killed today under the wheels of a police jeep, which was returning after escorting a political party following an election campaign, on Chaibasa-Pandrasoli road in West Singhbhum district.
The victims were identified as Bhibhisan Mahali (40) and his wife Soru Mahali (35), residents of Sangajuta Mahalisai, police said.
"The couple were travelling on a motorcycle and collided head with the police jeep," Superintendent of Police N K Singh said, adding that they died on the spot.
The police were returning after escorting leaders of Jai Bharat Samanta Party headed by former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, he said.
