Two persons accused of raping and kidnapping a 19-year-old woman have been acquitted by a court here which gave them benefit of doubt.
Additional Session Judge Shivani Jaiswal acquitted Mukesh and Tekchand in the 2015 case, Senior Prosecution Officer Lalit Mudgal said.
"The victim had retracted her statement and claimed though she was kidnapped and raped, she could not see the faces of the men as it was dark," Mudgal said, adding the court gave the accused benefit of doubt.
"When asked about her statement recorded under CrPC 164 before the magistrate in which she had levelled kidnapping and rape allegations against the accused, the victim said that statement was given under police pressure, he said.
On January 21, 2015, an FIR was lodged at Rabupura police station against the accused after a complainant claimed that his daughter was kidnapped and raped by the duo.
