Court allows vigilance remand of IAS officer

A special court here today allowed the vigilance wing of Odisha Police to take IAS officer Parthasarathi Mishra, arrested on corruption charges, on a two-day remand for questioning.
The vigilance department had moved the court seeking Mishra's remand for five days.
Several documents were seized from the houses of Mishra who used to lead luxurious life.
Mishra, Managing Director of Orissa Small Industries Corporation Ltd (OSIC), was arrested on February 16 after he failed to explain the source of over Rs 2.14 lakh found in his possession.
Following searches in the officer's houses, vigilance sleuths found that he has properties valued at over Rs 5 crore.

A criminal case has been registered against him under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
