A court here today asked the police to submit a report on whether an FIR was lodged against senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Mohammad Azam Khan for his "derogatory" comments against the Army.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate's (in-charge) court passed the order on a complaint from the wife of an officer in the security forces.
The complainant alleged that Khan, on June 28, had termed the Army personnel as "rapists", which she said was "derogatory".
It also amounted to sedition and hence an FIR should be lodged against the SP leader, the complaint stated.
Registering the application as a miscellaneous case, the court called for a report from the police station concerned as to whether an FIR had already been lodged in connection with the matter or not.
