Court awards 3 years RI to insurance company official
Press Trust of India Indore A special CBI court today awarded three years rigorous imprisonment to a senior official of a public sector insurance company in connection with payment of over Rs 17 lakh as fake insurance claims.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on Vijay Shrivas, who was then the manager of Mandsaur branch of National Insurance Company and had made payments in 71 fake cases of cattle insurance claims, which had incurred a loss of Rs 17,39,750 to the insurer.
On the basis of a complaint filed by a senior official of the insurance company, a case was registered against Shrivas in 2013.
The CBI had booked him under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC section of 420 against him in this regard.
