The petitioner, D P R Bose, claimed that Vice Chancellor S M Ramasamy and Registrar N Narayanasamy had appointed nearly 51 faculty members between 2010 and 2012 violating the norms of University Grants Commission.

However, he did not mention the exact year when the alleged incident happened. Promotions of some faculty members in 2010, 2011 and 2012 were in violation of UGC regulations, the petitioner, a social activist, alleged.

Non-teaching staff members were appointed in June 2012 without upgrading recruitment rules of GRI and no approval was obtained from the authoritative bodies of the institute at the time of their appointment, the petitioner alleged.

The petitioner sent a complaint to the Inspector of CB-CID at Dindigul on July 7 this year, but no action was taken, said R Rajaraman, counsel for Bose.

Justice A Selvam directed the Inspector of CB-CID to look into the case and take appropriate action in accordance with law.
