Court dismisses petition seeking action against SSKM hospital
Press Trust of India Kolkata The Calcutta High Court today dismissed a petition filed by actress and BJP leader Locket Chatterjee seeking action against SSKM hospital authorities for allegedly giving permission to conduct dialysis on a dog.
During the hearing, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice Joymalya Bagchi wanted to know what was the source of their information that the hospital authorities had allowed treatment of a dog.
When the BJP lawyers replied that they learnt about it from the media, the bench dismissed the petition saying they should have first conducted a proper enquiry before coming to the court.
Chatterjee has also filed an RTI seeking details from the state health department about the 'VVIP dog' that a senior Trinamool Congress leader had allegedly referred to the hospital for dialysis in June.
