A court extended police remand of alleged Maoist leader K Muralidharan and his aide C P Ismail until May 25 based on the prosecuting agency's plea for further custodial interrogation, official sources said here today.
The accused who allegedly belong to the banned and outlawed insurgent outfit called Communist Party of India (Maoist), were arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) at Talegaon-Dabhade village near here on May 8 under various provisions of the IPC and the Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act (UAPA).
The ATS told the court that it needs more time to track down accomplices of the accused as well as investigate their network in various places.
Sizeable propaganda material including fake Aadhaar cards have been confiscated from the accused, ATS sources said.
