District Judge Amar Nath framed charges against 24-year old Mohamed Naser under various sections of Indian Penal Code including 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and under several provisions of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The court has now fixed the matter for prosecution evidence on March 21.
According to the NIA, Naser, a resident of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, and his associates in India and abroad were active in promoting the ISIS ideology.
"He had travelled to Sudan to join ISIS in Libya/Syria in September, 2015 and remained in Sudan along with several ISIS operatives of different nationalities," the agency alleged in the charge sheet.
He was arrested on December 11, 2015 on his return to Delhi from Sudan and the charge sheet against him was filed on June 3, 2016.
"Investigation has established that Mohamed Naser was an active member of ISIS conspired, advocated, abetted, supported and recruited others to further the activities of the ISIS," the agency claimed.
