Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Gurvinder Pal Singh acquitted Delhi-resident Adil Khan in the case of "voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty," giving the accused benefit of doubt.
Police had told the court that they had laid a trap to arrest Khan after receiving a tip-off that he was running a prostitution racket under the "guise" of 'John and Erick' massage parlour.
The court, however, acquitted him saying that the police failure to rope in witnesses from hotel and procure CCTV footage from hotel cast doubt on the prosecution's story.
The prosecution said on February 26, 2005, the Crime Branch had received the information regarding the prostitution racket. A team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Kumar Gyanesh, was constituted to trap the accused.
The prosecution told the court that a policeman, posing as a customer struck a deal for company of a girl at a rate of Rs 5,000 per hour. (More)
