A city court today granted interim bail to a man who had hurled a shoe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on medical grounds as he was suffering from acute hepatitis.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abhilash Malhotra gave the relief to 28-year-old Ved Prakash, a national general secretary of Aam Aadmi Sena and who was in judicial custody, but directed him to "maintain peace in the society and maintain good behaviour".
The court granted him bail for a month after considering his plea, filed through advocate Pradeep Rana, that Prakash was suffering from jaundice and needed specialised treatment.
"From the report filed by medical officer, it is clear that accused Ved Prakash is suffering from acute hepatitis. I found merit in the submission made by the counsel that accused needs specialised treatment to cure the hepatitis and he needs to be cautious about food, water and other fluid intake," the magistrate said.
"Keeping in view the medical condition of the accused and
without going into factual merits of the case, accused is admitted to interim bail on furnishing of personal bond and surety of Rs 25,000 each. During interim bail accused is directed to maintain peace in the society and maintain good behaviour," the court said and fixed the case for further proceedings on May 20.
