A court here today issued an arrest warrant against Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik Gowda, raising the possibility of his arrest a week after a Kannada starlet filed a complaint of rape and cheating against him.
The 8th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court has issued arrest warrant against Karthik, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Alok Kumar told PTI.
Asked whether police are on the lookout for him, he said "anticipatory bail proceedings (on a plea by Karthik) were underway (today) in another court. We are waiting for it."
Police had asked Karthik to appear before them for questioning twice but he failed to show up for the second time on August 29.
The case has triggered a storm in the state after the small-time model-turned-actress lodged a complaint against Karthik, who was booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
The actress had claimed that she and Karthik had got married at Gowda's residence in Mangalore in June in the presence of only the driver of Gowda's son.
She came out with her claim on a day when Karthik was engaged to another woman at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.
