Metropolitan Magistrate Ruchika Singla directed the Station House Office, Dwarka-South to register an FIR after noting that the police had failed to inform the court about action taken on the woman's complaint.
"In the opinion of the court, several cognisable offences are made out and field investigation is required. Accordingly, the SHO, PS Dwarka South is directed to register the FIR under appropriate provisions of law," the magistrate said.
The complainant, a single mother of five-year-old boy, told the court that she had registered herself at a matrimonial website in March.
Sahni said his client received a phone call from the accused who introduced himself as Yuvraj alias Gaurav Singhania, working as a pilot in British Airways and a divorcee himself.
Both started talking on telephone and met several times after which the accused convinced her that he would keep her son as his own child, the lawyer said. After trapping her emotionally, the accused started taking money from her.
