According to prosecution, an application for police protection was submitted to the court by Yograj's advocate on behalf of him, saying there was danger to his life.
Hearing the plea, the court yesterday directed police to provide protection to the former UP minister.
Yograj, who is also the complainant in the case, failed to appear in the court despite repeated summons.
He claimed there was danger to his life, but did not specify from whom.
A case was registered against three persons, including Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Naresh Tikait. Two of the accused died during the pendency of the case.
