Court orders seizure of Collectorate furniture

Taking serious view of non- payment of Rs 2.5 lakh compensation awarded eight years ago to the widow of a man murdered in the court complex here, a court today ordered seizure of the furniture of the district Collectorate.
Sub-Judge Selvakumari ordered the distraint proceedings as the District Collector did not pay the compensation awarded by the court in 2005 to the wife of Kulandaivelu, who was killed by a gang in 1995 when he was brought to a court in the complex in connection with a murder case.
His wife had filed a petition seeking compensation from the government on the ground that police and the administration failed to provide proper security to him.

The judge said that even after eight years, the government did not care to implement the court order and ordered seizure of the furniture of the collectorate.
