The agitating lawyers are seeking the DGP's resignation after he refused to meet them on June 6, as they went to lodge a complaint about an incident in which lawyers being reportedly attacked in Kanyakumari district.
They alleged that apart from the DGP not meeting them, other senior officers there also had quarrelled with them.
Tamil Nadu Advocates Association president Prabhakaran and others preferred a petition in Madras High Court, seeking its direction to suspend the DGP pending disposal of the case.
Advocate General sought time to get instructions on filing a counter.
