Additional District Judge (ADJ) Sujata Kohli passed the decree of divorce in favour of the Delhi-based woman, who had moved the court to dissolve her marriage, which was solemnised in June 2000, on grounds of cruelty by her husband.

The woman alleged that her husband would frequently beat her up, was of suspicious nature and had even threatened to disfigure her face with acid.

"The contents of the mails (sent by the man to his wife) reflect unimaginable perverted attitude of the respondent who has stooped to the lowest and animal like level which can be said to be almost killing any person mentally.

"To describe the conduct of the man as a mental cruelty, would be a shear understatement, far removed from the extent of the torture that has been inflicted by him, physically as well as by his words calculatedly and in a sadistic manner," the court observed.

The court passed the order after the man failed to respond to its summonses and was declared an exparte.

The woman in her complaint said after her marriage she came to know that her husband, a Noida resident, was short tempered and a moody person and had even refused to take her out for a trip after the marriage.

She said it was an arranged marriage and no child was born to them. She added that her husband used to frequently fight with her on small pretexts.
