On Anca's plea, Special Judge Sanjeev Jain asked the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the third battalion of the Delhi Armed Police to file the report by October 20. The DAP 3rd Bn is responsible for ferrying undertrial prisoners between various courts and jails.
Romanian national Anca has alleged that one of the women undertrial prisoner, who is making extortion threats to her, is the wife of Hari Kishan Sharma, key accused in the Rs 5.25 crore heist that took place recently in Defence Colony here.
Anca, who is presently lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody along with her husband for their alleged involvement in various cases, has moved the court for separate van for her transportation saying she has received the extortion threats from Sharma's wife Rashmi and one Shivani, a murder accused.
During the arguments on Anca's plea, her counsel Vijay Aggarwal said Verma had received similar threats in 2007-08 from Sharma, who is presently lodged in Tihar Jail for his alleged role in the Rs 5.25 crore heist and is having enmity with his client.
Aggarwal said that Rashmi, an undertrial lodged in the jail, is now threatening Anca and accordingly, his client should be provided with a separate van for ferrying her from the jail to the court and back and also to the hospital as she could be attacked by these two undertrial prisoners or by their gang.
The court, meanwhile, asked for a report from the DCP after it received a reply from the jail superintendent of the Tihar Jail saying, "Copy of the (Anca's) application and report of the jail superintendent be sent to the DCP, third battalion, for report/comment for the next date of hearing. Application be listed for consideration for October 20." (More)
