Court seeks UP response on partial compliance of order

The Allahabad High Court today sought a response from the Uttar Pradesh government on the partial compliance of its order regarding the transfer of police officials of Kanpur in connection with junior doctors' strike.
The Lucknow bench of the High Court directed the state counsels to to seek instruction from the government and respond by March 12, the next date for hearing in the case.
A division bench comprising Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and D K Upadhyay passed this order on a PIL which was registered by court's order on March 5, while taking suo-motu congnisance in the matter.
The court had, in its March 5 order, directed the state government to transfer senior police officials with immediate effect in connection with the junior doctors' strike in Kanpur.
Following the court's orders, the state government transferred SSP, Yashasvi Yadav, but other police officials continued on their posts in Kanpur.
Additional advocate general Bulbul Godiyal and Chief Standing Counsel I P Singh informed the court that as per its order, the SSP Kanpur, Yashashvi Yadav had been transferred from Kanpur and a one-member commission had begun probe from March 7.
The case pertains to a strike by doctors in Kanpur and other parts of the state protesting the assault on the medicos at GSV Medical College by Kanpur police and supporters of SP MLA Irfan Solanki following an altercation.
The six-day strike, which affected medical services in the state, was called off on March 6 after 24 junior doctors, who were arrested in connection with the clash, were released and the SSP Kanpur was transferred by the UP government following court orders.
