A man and his son have been sentenced to life for murdering their neighbour three years ago suspecting him to be a tantrik and responsible for the death of their three family members.
Additional District Judge I D Dubey handed out the punishment to one Rajendra and his son Bira for killing Bahorinath Jogi on May 25, 2012 when he had gone to take a bath near a tubewell, under Kotwali police station.
Jogi's son, Kedarnath who was on way to Dwarkadhish temple saw the act of assailants of his father. The assailants managed to flee when he reached the spot. Jogi was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead," Assistant District Government Counsel (ADGC) Virendra Lavania said.
He said Bira was apprehensive that it was due to Jogi's practice of tantra that he lost his brother, wife and elder sister-in-law within a span of few months.
Jogi and Bira also had a heated argument a couple of days before the murder took place.
"On the basis of only family witness Kedarnath, postmortem report, the doctor's statement, report of forensic team and recovery of knife (used in murder) from the accused, the judge sentenced father and son to life imprisonment.
