Court convicted Nasib, a residence of Khanti in Fatehgarh district of Punjab, for carrying the contraband and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on him.
Police intercepted a vehicle near Theog on Shimla-Tibet national highway, 32-km from here, on August 7, 2011.
During the search operation, 1.5 kg of opium was seized from the possession of Nasib, who was in the vehicle.
