A local court has ordered all witnesses in a five-year-old case of wrongful confinement against BSP MLA Noor Saleem Rana to be present before it on October 17.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Monoj Siddhu yesterday ordered the witnesses to appear in court for examination in the case against Rana.
The orders come in the backdrop of a Supreme Court order that cases against MPs and MLAs should be disposed within a year of framing of charges against accused.
Police had registered a case against Rana under section 344 IPC for alleged confinement of a Delhi-based trader Manoj Aggarwal in September, 2009.
Thereafter, Delhi Police, with the help of local police, traced and freed the trader.
Charges were framed against the accused on September 29, 2012.
