According to police, the accused - Anurag is son of the victim Dr Jaishri Namdeo's aunt (her father's sister) and he had fallen for her since he was pursuing coaching for bank examinations.
Anurag, who worked in a private bank as a supervisor, reached the place around 11.15 pm when the marriage was being solemnised.
He took out a country-made pistol and shot dead his own sister in a brutal manner. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where she succumbed in her bridal dress.
Jaishri was pursuing a post-graduate course in paediatrics from the Government Gandhi Medical College (GMC) and was getting married with her colleague Dr Rohit Namdeo, Superintendent of Police (Bhopal North) Arvind Saxena told PTI.

"Though the accused is claiming that he killed his cousin as he fell for her, we are not believing him completely and we will further question him once he recovers," he said.
At present, Anurag is undergoing treatment in the hospital as he was thrashed badly by the people and relatives of the bride after the gruesome murder, he said, adding the accused is in police custody at present.
