CPI asks President to stop LG from inviting BJP to form govt
Press Trust of India New Delhi The Communist Party of India (CPI) today sought President Pranab Mukherjee's intervention to ensure that Delhi's Lt Governor does not invite the BJP to form government in Delhi saying it will be unconstitutional and demanded fresh polls.
"Please direct the Lt Governor of Delhi that he should not invite any political party until he is sure that the required majority is there without any trading of MLA's," the CPI said in a statement today.
The party also criticised Jung's move to invite BJP to form government in Delhi even as the party does not have the numbers for it.
"It is unfortunate that Lt Governor of Delhi is seeking permission for the formation of Government despite none of the parties BJP, Congress and AAP having majority.
"The way Lt Governor is functioning is prompting for trading of the MLA's. This give scopes for unethical practice in polities. The political situation in Delhi is bad and people are suffering. The best option will be to hold immediate fresh elections," the party said.
