CPI demonstration against LPG price hike
Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar Demanding a roll back, the CPI activists today staged a protest here against the hike in the prices of cooking gas as well as the government's decision to make Aadhar card compulsory for availing subsidy on the LPG cylinders.
Terming it as a huge blow for the common men, CPI leader Sura Jena said the hike in LPG price and linking LPG subsidy to Aadhar card would cause difficulties for the people already pressed under high inflation.
Jena said the Aadhar card linkage with LPG subsidy was a gross violation of the Supreme Court direction against making Aadhar compulsory for the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.
If these anti-people decisions are not withdrawn immediately, CPI will launch a state-wide agitation, Jena said.
