CPI today disputed the claim of Chief Minister N Rangasamy that all the promises given during the 2011 Assembly polls were fulfilled.

Puducherry CPI State unit Secretary R Viswanathan said in a release that major industrial units, including the AFT mill, were non functional landing workers in penury, though it was promised that the mill would be toned up by procuring central assistance.

Workers and employees in several Public Sector Undertakings were yet to get their wages that had accumulated over the months, he alleged.

Viswanathan said that the promise of uninterrupted power supply, particularly in rural areas, was just on paper.

The rise in power tariff was causing hardships for consumers. Also promises relating to farmers and availability of crop loans had not been fulfilled and sugarcane farmers were also agitating for disbursement of dues for cane supplied to cooperative sugar mills here.

Failure to implement rural employment guarantee scheme had also inflicted sufferings on rural labourers.

Land acquired for a Special Economic Zone in Sederapat village was unutilised as the project was not implemented.

Viswanathan said the CM's promise that the Public Distribution System would make available essential commodities did not also see light of the day.
